Over the last week or so I’ve been fundraising to support the website, with all of that I forgot the most important thing – myvintagevogue.com is turning four years old.

When I started this project in November of 2008 I had no idea that inspiration and passion would hit me like a lightning bolt. I have to admit  prior to that I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I “grew up”. Now every day when I wake up and put my feet on the floor I have two goals: first to be a great mom to my growing son and second to have the largest private digital fashion photography and advertising archive in the country. No easy task but since the day I launched the website in March of 2009 that vision has grown and become more clear for me. The collection keeps growing and so does its viewers and I couldn’t be more proud of how far it’s come. A few years ago Conde Nast said that the website was the largest “passion project” of its kind they had ever seen. I wonder what they are thinking now haha and I’m just getting started. Over the next year the goal is to apply for non-profit status and for grants to support the archive. As always the most important goal is to preserve the past and for the collection to be used as an educational tool for students and teachers. Inspiring costumers, designers, stylists and vintage enthusiasts all over the world is always a plus.

Thanks so much to every one of you that have followed, supported and shared the website and blog over the last four years - here’s hoping for many more years to come.

I woke up this morning to find even more donations for the website. I am thrilled to know so many of you care about the archive and value it as I do.

It’s never an easy thing to ask for help. Aside from the website yearly fees much of the equipment needs updating. Your support goes a long way in keeping the archive up and running - every little bit helps.

I’m feeling a bit sad and frustrated today. I took to the web recently to let people/followers know that I needed to raise funds for the website. Asking for help is never easy and the last thing I want to do, but after 5 years without a raise at work and almost a year without child support, running the website has become more difficult. It’s been sad to see so little response from my request. I receive so many emails telling me how invaluable the archive is to them. I know there are so many that rely on my large follower base to promote their shops, blogs and events. It’s nice the hear the words of appreciation but sometimes actions speak louder than words. I have been so fortunate to have such supportive friends and family who have given their time and even equipment to this project, but I would have loved to have seen more support from the people that actually use the website. Thanks to all who have donated to the cause your, support means the world to me.
