allthoseyearsago- asked: Is there a website for the Conde Nast Archive? And thank you for the wonderful blog! :)
Conde Nast has the largest fashion photography archive in the world. Conde Nast owns Vogue, Vanity Fair, Mademoiselle, Glamour, Charm and many more. They are one of few publishers that keep active copyrights on all images own by them because of this there are no public domain images from Vogue etc. Some of there images are available for purchase through http://www.condenaststore.com/ and some are available for license through http://www.corbisimages.com/ I have had to deal directly with the copyright department of Conde Nast so in order to follow the “Fair Use Act” anything owed by Conde Nast I credit as such.
Just because a 50’s model has dark hair doesnt mean it’s Dovima, if you’re not sure who someone is don’t tag it. I’ve spent years now doing what I do & I still come accross models, designers & photographers I’m not sure of - if in doubt don’t guess.
Many people think if it is online it’s correct, when posting vintage be accurate never guess because once it’s uploaded it becomes fact.
“Fashion’s not about looking back. It’s always about looking forward.” Anna Wintour - Editor of Vogue
This quote kills me, who is she kidding. Fashion is all about looking back, designers reinvent or reimagine from past fashions trends every season.
